Thank You Allen Park

We held our Inaugural Pizza, Beer and Wine Social yesterday, July 14, 2016.  It was a success beyond what I’d ever imagined.  We raised over $9,000 which will be used to benefit Allen Park.  Not bad for a fledgling organization.  And it all has to do with:

State Representative Frank Liberati and Allen Park Mayor William Matakas have been big supporters of what we’re trying to do and were kind enough to speak at our event.

Parks and Rec Director Pat Hawkins let us use the hockey rink and it turned out we needed it.  His staff gave us a lot of help prepping and setting up and breaking down and this really took a big burden off us.

The people and businesses of our City are really amazing.  Truthfully, I wasn’t too sure how this event would go over because we’re new and untested.  As it started to unfold - as people bought tickets, as businesses committed to supplying the pizza, beer, wine, soft drinks, water and taking care of our printing needs, as other businesses made cash or Silent Auction donations - my eyes really opened to the kindnesses of the people of Allen Park.

Putting an event like this together was impressive to watch.  The amount of leg-work involved in getting flyers out, getting business support, selling tickets, etc., is something you need to see first hand to really appreciate.  It is hard and sometimes it can be a thankless job.  Our Fundraising Committee did this and it was an amazing job - they are a really hard working group.

Thank you all so much for the hard work and faith.

Over the next week, or so, we’ll have a lot more information about the event, including pictures, on our website and Facebook page.

Sincerely,
